How can we protect our environment and home-owners from home heating oil spills?
February 1, 2015
Rob Fleming, MLA for Victoria – Swan Lake, and Lana Popham, MLA for Saanich South, are hosting a community forum on Thursday February 5th to examine the risks of home heating oil spills to homeowners and the environment when aging tanks and accessories fail.
A recent report from the Partnership for Water Sustainability found that over 13,000 homes constructed in the CRD prior to 1992 had oil heating. Aging oil tanks and accessories, if not properly maintained, can lead to catastrophic damages to local fish and wildlife in our waterways and pose significant clean-up costs for property owners and local governments.
Join us to hear a panel of local experts and community leaders share findings and examine solutions for preventing further serious spills.
When: Thursday February 5th 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. Where: Spectrum Community School Theatre, 957 Burnside Rd W, Victoria.
